West End mother in court for her infant's fentanyl death

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A West End mother accused of causing the death of her baby faced a judge Friday. Jessica Hayes is charged with involuntary manslaughter. Emergency crews were called to an apartment on Poplar Street for an unresponsive baby in March. Danielle Hale, six-months-old, died. According to court papers, Danielle died from fentanyl poisoning. Hayes reportedly admitted to using fentanyl around the baby. During her arraignment, Judge Ted Berry said, "Sometimes I set bonds to protect defendants from themselves. I see at least two ODs. One in Franklin County in 2011, another rising out of Worthington, Ohio with another drug abuse instrument. This drug is going to cost you everything, ma'am. If not your life, you've already lost your child." He set bond at $15,000.
