We begin with an exploration of how some of the most famous classical masterpieces have found their way into equally famous films, in Movie Classics presented by Petroc Trelawny. Next, we celebrate one of the most iconic musicians in Bowie: A Rock and Symphonic Spectacular with vocalist Tony Vincent leading us through Bowie’s greatest hits. As the nights draw in The Best of British Cinema showcases some of the best loved music from British film favourites with scores packed full of drama, excitement and comedy. Join us in February for an escape from the damp, cold winter with Espana! an evening of Spanish-inspired warmth and passion, before we journey across the continent for a Russian Ballet Extravaganza. We return to the cinema with A Night at the Oscars celebrating the real star of the movie world – the music! In April we look back over the career of another musical giant Elton John with star vocalists bring the music of his 50 year career to the Bridgewater Hall. Finally, we end the series with an evening of great jazz standards and timeless classics in More Giants of Jazz with Liane Carroll. -
