Like all Quantic Dream games Beyond features minimalist gameplay with a heavy emphasis on contextual actions performed through a series of button prompts. The game ostensibly features dozens, if not hundreds, of choices for the player to make with a variety of different endings. We are going to be dissecting the awkward dialogue, the nonsensical plot, the pointlessness of every action and choice, the poorly executed in media res non-linear storytelling. We are going to do this while trying to keep ourselves amused, while questioning how David Cage tricked two genuinely talented actors (Ellen Page starring as Jodie, and Willem Dafoe as Dawkins) into lending their performances to this game, and while slowly growing more and more frustrated over this game's limitless supply of wasted potential.
