Stock ZX2 0-60 Acceleration

This is a 1998 Ford Escort ZX2. It's bone stock, I just got it last week. I was reading in some forums that the stock 0-60 is 7-8sec, but I keep getting 9-10sec. Perhaps my shifting has to improve. Any suggestions welcome, and sorry for the poor quality of my camera phone.
