A sever weather warning has been issued by Britain's Met Office as Storm Babet is due to make landfall in Scotland on Thursday evening (October 19). The local council said residents of 335 houses in the Scottish town of Brechin had been asked to evacuate, according to a news release on its website. STORM Babet has caused widespread disruption and chaos this morning as heavy rain and strong winds batter the country. Schools and nurseries across Angus have been closed for the rest of the week after a rare Met Office red weather warning for rain was issued for the area. And several ScotRail services have been cancelled in the north and northeast with "exceptional" rainfall expected in places. These trains won't run again until early on Saturday morning. Scots have been urged to avoid travelling and stay at home.
