New Poll Shows Increase In Demand At NJ Food Pantries

More than one-third of New Jersey households, 38%, are not getting by financially according to a recent report from the United Way and Rutgers University. As a result, a lot of people are sacrificing food as a way to get by. Joe Nastasi frequents the Flemington area food pantry twice a month so he can put food on the table and he discussed why this situation has become the norm. “Your insurance for the home, your insurance for the car, your monthly bills, the money's gone and so you're left with very little to live on, almost nothing to live on,” Nastasi said. He's grateful to get what the pantry has, which has a direct correlation to what's donated. He hopes that telling his story will help shine a light on a growing problem that people need help. Maryann Isham with the Flemington food pantry said that food pantries nationwide are seeing an increase in demand. http://www.my9nj.com/story/26567299/n...
