This collection of 365 daily devotions includes favorite, insightful devotions gleaned from My Devotions magazines published in the past 50 years. We will use 48 Lenten devotions for our Daily Video Devotion time together! Each devotion includes a suggested scripture reading, an engaging story, and a short prayer, and includes the year the devotion was originally published. Using Matthew’s Gospel as its source, we see Jesus as teacher, healer, comforter, and Savior. Our Shepherd’s crucifixion and resurrection now make joy and true life available to His followers—to those who through faith entrust their lives to Him. Our Lord Jesus, though divine in nature, took on human form and thus became intimately acquainted with our griefs and sorrow (see Isaiah 53:1-6). We wait and yearn for our real home, the new promised land of heaven. In order to wait well, Jesus mentions that a good teacher not only brings out new treasures but reminds people of old and rich treasures as well (Matthew 13:52). This Lenten season, embrace God’s amazing love for us, His baptized children, in new ways. Each week of Lent, journey to concretely see, smell, touch, and taste several biblical elements. Begin with ashes, then salt, water, light, bread, and finally, palms. During Holy Week, water and blood, wood, and fragrant oil are featured. On Easter, do not miss out on the sweetness of God’s milk and honey.
