New York State's 26,000-acre Finger Lakes Land Trust is among biggest in the state

The Finger Lakes Land Trust was created as Andrew Zepp’s master’s degree project at Cornell University back in the late 1980s when he was pursuing a graduate degree in natural resource policy. At 26,000 acres, it is among the biggest and most expansive land trusts in the state. It has “saved” a host of properties in the Finger Lakes region through a combination of creating public nature preserves and helping landowners to conserve their properties by buying development rights and conservation easements.
