Volkswagen 2014: In top form on the way to being world market leader

Volkswagen is succeeding in in its bid to top the league of car manufacturers by 2018. At their financial press conference the head of the corporation Professor Doctor Martin Winterkorn was able to announce that the magic barrier of 10 million car deliveries had been broken four years earlier than anticipated. 2014 was an altogether successful year for Germany’s largest industrial corporation. With its twelve subsidiaries it delivered 10.14 million vehicles, an increase of 400,000 cars compared with the also successful previous year. This meant that the VW group achieved pre-tax earnings totalling 14.8 billion euros in the financial year 2014; yield on turnover increased from 6.3 to 7.3 percent. Turnover increased by 2.8 % to 202.5 billion euros, and operating profit also increased by one billion euros to a record 12.7 billion euros. Including the operating results of the Chinese Joint Ventures, it increased to almost 18 billion euros.
