You'll learn about tidal volume (normal comfortable breath, around 500 ml), inspiratory reserve volume (deep inhale, 2500-3000 ml), expiratory reserve volume (forced exhale, 1000-1100 ml), and residual volume (air always left in lungs, 1100-1200 ml). She also covers how these combine to form lung capacities like total lung capacity and vital capacity using simple logic, no need to memorize! The session then covers how oxygen and CO2 move in the body. Air flows from high to low pressure areas: oxygen enters blood in the alveoli because pressure is higher there, then moves to tissues where pressure is lower. CO2 moves from tissues to blood and then to alveoli. Ma'am explains gas transport too—97% oxygen travels as oxyhemoglobin, while CO2 is carried as bicarbonate ions (70%), carbamino hemoglobin (20-25%), or dissolved in plasma (7%).
