Mirage is the thirteenth major installment in the Assassin's Creed (AC) series and follow-up to 2020's Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Mirage is an action-adventure game set in 9th-century Baghdad during the anarchy at Samarra. The main story follows Basim Ibn Ishaq as he transitions from street thief to a member of the Assassin Brotherhood, as they fight for peace and liberty against the Templar Order, who only wants peace via control. Ubisoft describes Mirage as a return to the AC roots, with a focus on linear storytelling and stealth gameplay than previous AC games, which were mainly role-playing games. Mirage brings a brand-new ability for players called "Assassin Focus," which allows Basim to eliminate multiple enemies simultaneously and this new ability can be recharged by performing stealth assassinations. When initiating the Assassin Focus ability, time stops for a player and allows them to mark up to five enemies who will then be automatically killed by Basim in quick succession. Mirage also introduces another new feature where there are various poles located around Baghdad that can be used to cross wide gaps. Assassin’s Creed Mirage was released on October 5, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The game will also release on iPhone 15 Pro in early 2024.
