Stressful time for democracies across world, warns former PM Manmohan Singh

Former Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, said it was a stressful time for democracies across the world, during an event in Jaipur. He also suggested ways to 'strengthen roots of democracy' in India. Singh said that the nation needs principled, knowledgeable and visionary leaders. He also said that political parties which safeguard values enshrined in Constitution are needed. Earlier, during Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary celebrations, Singh had warned of 'growing intolerance' in recent years.
