HOW DO YOU DO, I LOVE YOU was a modern "rock" musical written by Richard Maltby Jr. and David Shire, with a book by Michael Stewart. Described by the authors as the first musical written entirely in the Rock'n'Roll genre (though to my ears the music isn't very Rock-y) this ill-fated musical about the hip world of computer dating played the Shady Grove and Westbury Music Fairs in October and November of 1967 before closing on the road. Though the show was never officially recorded and has't been performed since some of its songs were recycled in Maltby & Shire's famous trunk song revues. The show's orchestrations were by legend Jonathan Tunick in one of his earliest ventures, and also in the cast were Carole Cook and Loni Ackerman. Recorded live in performance at the Westbury Music Fair, November 1967.
