The Modular Bench Power System #8 - Voltage Doubler for High Side MOSFET

In this video we experiment with creating the extra voltage above the main PSU supply in order to enable driving a HIGH SIDE MOSFET to saturation, thereby delivering the max output voltage and current of the supply. We will looks at a voltage doubler design that uses the existing transformers and the option of a simple off the shelf brick psu that costs under 10$, Note that in this video we also discover that the voltages require much high voltage rating capacitors than you would initially expect, I was using ones I had lying around but these are not good enough for a final project. expect to have so source a few caps rated at about 100V and perhaps 47uF or more rather than the ones I used. The video still does successfully demonstrate the operation of the doubler the Brick style power blocks can be found here http://canada.newark.com/webapp/wcs/s... and here http://canada.newark.com/webapp/wcs/s...
