FAREWELL Virgin Atlantic 747-400 G-VROS ‘Forever Young’ | Final Departure from Manchester | 08.09.2020 The second-to-last Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-400 took its positioning flight to Heathrow today on its way to retirement. G-VROS ‘Forever Young’ bid farewell to all that gathered at the Runway Visitor Park on an overcast Tuesday afternoon. G-VROS, English Rose, was renamed "Forever Yong" in memory of employee Marcus Young and other employees who have passed away too soon. This particular aircraft had initially been due to go to Italian carrier Alitalia. However, the order was not taken up. While other Virgin aircraft have been sent to the scrapyard, it seems as though the name “Forever Young” was apt for this aircraft. Though it seems the plane is set to get a second lease of life. The aircraft will be delivered to Atlas Air. Atlas operates a mix of cargo and passenger Boeing 747s, including a former British Airways Boeing 747-8F. Virgin leased the aircraft from GECAS, and it seems as though Atlas will take over the lease....watch this space. Thanks for the memories... #VirginAtlantic
