Middletown man pleads guilty to lesser charge in wife's shooting death

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - A Middletown man pleaded guilty to a lesser charge for the shooting death of his wife. Gregory Orona pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter on June 26. Orona was originally charged with murder. He shot his wife Cassie Sanders at the couple's home on Wilbraham Road on December 17. Detectives interviewed people inside the home at the time and learned the couple had a history of domestic violence. The investigation revealed that the two had been arguing through the night and into the morning. A judge will sentence Orona to up to 14 years in prison on August 1.
