The Kardashev scale is a method of measuring the level of technological development of a civilization . In this, the energy used by the civilization for communication is taken as the basis. On this basis three categories of civilizations have been given – Category-1, Category-2 and Category-3. In 1964, Kardashev proposed this scale to measure the potential for technological development of an alien civilization.
