There’s something magical about seeing them on paper and realizing they can become reality. And for me, September has always been one of my favorite months for a reset. Along with December and January, it feels like the perfect time to reflect, reset, and plan the next steps, not just as a postdoctoral researcher and university lecturer, but as someone who wants to design her dream life. So in today’s video, I’ll give you 5 clear, actionable steps to reset this September, set goals that actually stick, and move closer to the life you imagine for yourself. 🔷 STEP 1: Reflect Before You Reset Before you can plan forward, you have to look back. 👉 Take a notebook and write down: • What worked well in the past 3 months? • What drained your energy? • What are you proud of? This reflection isn’t about judgment — it’s about data. Think like a researcher: gather the evidence of your life. Because once you know what’s working and what isn’t, you’ll have clarity about where to focus your energy in September. 🔷 STEP 2: Define Your 3 Big Goals Now it’s time to set goals — but here’s the trick: don’t set 10. Set 3 big goals for the next 90 days. Why 3? Because it forces you to focus. Examples: • Improve your fitness routine • Publish a research paper • Spend more quality time with family 💡 Write them as if they’re already happening: ‘I am building a strong body through consistent workouts.’ ‘I am finishing and submitting my paper with confidence.’ ‘I am creating intentional moments with my family.’ This simple change turns goals into identities you’re stepping into, not just wishes. 🔷 STEP 3: Break It Down into Micro-Actions Dreams stay dreams if they aren’t broken down. So for each goal, write the first 3 small actions. Example: • Goal: Improve fitness → Action: Buy a yoga mat, schedule 3 workouts, prepare healthy snacks. • Goal: Submit paper → Action: Outline the sections, write 200 words per day, schedule editing time. When you break it down, you remove the overwhelm. And here’s the secret: success comes from small consistent steps, not giant leaps. 🔷 STEP 4: Create Your September Reset Ritual This is my favorite part — rituals anchor your goals into daily life. Every September, I create a reset ritual: • I review my goals every morning with coffee. • I set my top 3 tasks for the day. • I close the day by journaling one win, no matter how small. This daily structure is what transforms your goals into reality. Because motivation fades — but rituals keep you consistent. 🔷 STEP 5: Visualize Your Dream Life Finally, remember: this is not just about September. It’s about the bigger picture — the dream life you’re building. Take 5 minutes each day to visualize: • How do you want to feel? • Where are you working? • Who are you surrounded by? Science shows visualization activates the same brain pathways as real experience.
