I bought a couple meters of flat steel, cut it into pieces and welded everything back together in the shape of a clamp. Simple! For the spindles I used pieces of M16 threaded rod. Talking about machinery, all you really need for making a set of these clamps is a grinder, a drill and a welder. However, a chop saw is very convenient and of course I just had to show off my new homemade belt grinder.
