Canada to receive 2 million more Moderna COVID-19 vaccines by mid June | FULL

Brig.-Gen. Krista Brodie, the head of Canada's COVID-19 vaccine rollout, said Thursday the country would receive two million more Moderna doses by mid-June, with 500,000 delivered over the week of May 31 and another 1.5 million sometime before June 14. She made the announcement during a vaccine update alongside deputy chief public health officer Dr. Howard Njoo and Joëlle Paquette, who works with Public Services and Procurement Canada. According to Njoo, more than 22 million doses have been administered and 57 per cent of Canadians 12 and older have received at least one dose. Njoo said that while more shipments of COVID-19 vaccines were coming into the country, he did not expect provinces to shrink the dosing interval for second doses further than the eight to 10 weeks they recently decreased them to. He said real-world studies also have shown a longer interval may actually be beneficial, citing a U.K. study on AstraZeneca. He also spoke briefly about the concerns over the Tokyo Olympics. Njoo said that with regulations expected to be put in place around what people must do before and after events and with countries looking to vaccinate athletes before heading to Japan, it could help mitigate the risks. He added that athletes getting vaccinated could potentially encourage other Canadians to do so. For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/7892792/co...
