WJLA ABC7 News Opens, 3/31/2021

WJLA is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group. Two days after these were recorded, WJLA changed to their current brand of "7 News On Your Side" (although the music, voiceover, and graphics were retained; it was just a new logo that was implemented, which still retains the iconic "circle 7" imagery). So this video preserves the final "ABC7 News" look at this station for future posterity. There's not much to say here that I didn't say in my previous upload. Sold from longtime owners Allbritton Communications (where the "A" in the callsign comes from) to Sinclair Broadcast Group in 2014, based in nearby Hunt Valley. WJLA has usually struggled in the ratings aside from a brief period in the mid-2000s through the early 2010s. WJLA is the only station in the market not to do a 4.30am newscast, canceling it due to the pandemic and never restoring it as things slowly return to normal. WJLA is the longest tenured affiliate in the ABC network, having been affiliated with them since 1948. Standard implementation of the Sinclair group graphics package, custom news theme (Warner-Chappell Production Music), and Steve Stone voiceover. Anchors are Victoria Sanchez, Ashlie Rodriguez, meteorologist Eileen Whelan, Adrianna Hopkins, meteorologist Steve Rudin, Michelle Marsh, Kellye Lynn, Jonathan Elias, and chief meteorologist Bill Kelly.
