Supreme Court issues notice to central government to restrain COVID-19 drugs Remdesivir and HCQ

Supreme Court has issued a notice to Union Government on a PIL seeking to restrain the usage of Remdesivir and HCQ as Covid-19 treatment drugs. The petitioner, Lawyer MN Sharma, of the PIL cited the W.H.O report which stated that these drugs have little to no impact on Covid-19 patients. The Central government’s response to this issue will be interesting to watch since recently Remdesivir has caught the United States of America’s attention and cleared the FDA clearance but have contradictory reports in India about the performance of the drug.
