Didier Deschamps has been appointed as the head coach of the French national football team - just a few weeks after taking Olympique Marseille to a lowly TENTH place in Ligue 1. The former Marseille boss was confirmed as Laurent Blanc's successor after talks with the country's Football Federation in Paris on Saturday. As a player, Deschamps captained France to World Cup victory in 1998 and European Championship glory two years later. He'll hope to replicate that success as a coach, starting with his first match - next month's friendly against Uruguay. Deschamps's most notable achievements as a coach so far have been guiding Monaco to a UEFA Champions League final in 2004 before bringing the Ligue 1 title to Marseille in 2010.
