CINCINNATI (WKRC) - In light of the CovCath controversy, many are cautioning people to get more information before weighing in on an issue on social media. One of them is Kentucky State Rep. Adam Koenig, who is also a Covington Catholic graduate. Rep. Koenig said CBS Evening News called the situation that has garnered so much reaction "complicated" and he agrees with that. He said the Black Israelites, the Indigenous People march participants and the students were all exercising their first amendment rights when the Black Israelites engaged the students. He said, "If everyone would just go about their business, do their thing and leave everybody alone and have their say, then we don't have these issues and no one's trying to incite everybody else. Rep. Koenig has appeared on on some radio and other shows. "I've been torn up by people all over the country telling me I'm a racist and they're glad they left the south because we're all a bunch of racists and it just baffles me that people act that way." Rep. Koenig said when he first saw the clips of the video making the rounds, he said he didn't see many problems with it. But, he also realized he's a CovCath graduate and these are his constituents and he might be biased. He said he waited to see what happened before commenting. "That doesn't make me better or worse than anybody else, it just means I think more people need to stop and wait and find out. If you have something to say, the next day it'll still be there to be said."
