The mighty Allagash Waterway I had the privilege this past week to partake in a challenging yet rewarding trip via canoe with some good friends through the many lakes of the Allagash Waterway in northern Maine, USA. Far from city lights and cell phone towers, I was able to take advantage of the astounding dark skies to produce this Timelapse of the Milky Way core. Disappointed by the orientation our campsite offered, I was forced to wade in waist high waters around the shoreline to achieve this placement of my tripod. I also did this during cloudy conditions with the hope that throughout the night the heavens would open wide, which to my surprise, they did. When I returned to gather my gear at 2:00am, I was greeted by the bright shining Milky Way core to the west, as well as the rising crescent moon to the east, creating an otherworldly experience that I will never forget.
