Ja Morant is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER THAN DERRICK ROSE

SUBSCRIBE TO HELP US REACH ARE GOAL OF 1000 SUBSCRIBERS CURRENT SUBS: 20 Ja morant is one of the most exciting young players in the nba he has highlights like this this or even this. Hyper athletic with insane body control. I mean you just saw it he did a 360 in a playoff game like it was nothing. But dunking is not the only thing Ja does well, he’s also an amazing finisher, playmaker, is extremely fast and single handedly runs the grizzlies offense. One player that is commonly compared to Ja is Derrick Rose. Yes, the Chicago Bulls LEGEND. But can Ja really reach the level of the youngest mvp? Well today we’re gonna be breaking down 3 things. how good can ja can be, how similar Ja is too Derrick Rose, and finally can Ja become as good or better than the Rose himself. If your not already subscribed you’re literally INSANE your an nba fan not subscribed too an nba channel? Doesn’t make any sense, so don’t be insane and click that red button. So “pause” let’s actually get into the video. So how I’m gonna figure out how good he can be, by looking at how good he can be at every attribute of basketball. So lets start with, in my opinion, the most important attribute part of basketball: playmaking. Ja, is already an ELITE playmaker. As I mentioned earlier Ja Morant, completely RUNS the Grizzlies offense. He scores and facilitates for the team. His assist numbers, which he averages 7.4, don’t tell you enough of what he does for the team. If you watch the grizzlies, the majority of points are created by Ja. Unfortunately I can’t prove this too, cause theres no stat that shows this, so you just got too trust me. Ja also, like I said earlier, Is an amazing finisher and dunker. 43% of ja morant shots are within 5 feet and he shoots them at 57% efficiency. He’s also able to get too the line a lot averaging _ free throws a game. The problem though is, is that his only real way of scoring is finishing. He shoots about 3 threes a game on only 30%. That’s really poor and especially for a guard. The other problem is that he can’t even shoot the middie efficiently, so he pretty much only can score EFFICIENTLY at one level. That’s kind of a problem. But I do think this will change, as a guard in the modern NBA you have to be able to shoot, and for too Ja too reach his full potential, he’s gonna have to learn how shoot. Lowkey his scoring is mad similar to Zion, oh on Zion I made a video on Zion about 2 weeks ago and you definitely should check that out, so pause this vid and click the thing in the top right corner. Ok let’s get back tBut the question is do I think he will improve at shooting? Honestly this ones really hard too tell. Other guards similar too ja(Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook) never developed a jumpshot, so honestly it would be hard for me too tell you if he will or not develop a jumpshot. This though might be the deciding factor which could push Ja up from being a great point guard too one of the best of all time. If he does develop that jumpshot hes a complete offensive guard, being an elite playmaker, elite finisher, good shooter and good ball handler, which is the next thing. Ja is a good ball handler, not great, a good ball handler. He doesn’t do the stuff Iverson, Steph or kyrie do, but he can dribble quite well. So offensively he has the chance too be complete at every offensive aspect of basketball. But defensively, hes very average. Too look at his defensive stats there not great. BUt defense for guards is not thaaat important. Its kind of an added bonus, if you dont have it, it is what it is but if you do I mean it can be useful. But Ja does have the abilities too be a good defender(lateral quickness and shot contest). So he very well could be a good/serviceable defender. So I mean offensively he’s gonna be amazing and defensively he’s fine. So how similar is this too Derrick Rose? Well Looking at Rose’s skillset, he’s an elite playmaker, and finisher well being a below average shooter and an ok defender. That’s extremely similar to Ja. But how similar has there performances been in the first 2 years? Well in Ja’s rookie year he averaged 18 points 4 boards and 7.5 assists on 31 mpg, well getting too the line 4.5 times, on 48/33/78 splits. Drose on the other hand averaged 17 4 boards and 6 assists, on 37 mpg getting to the line 3 times, on 48/22/79 splits. Looking at both there shot charts they dont look that similar, but if you swap mid range shots and threes for rose, there mad similar. I’m doing this because people didnt really shoot threes in 2009 and people dont really shoot mid ranges in 2021.
