Funeral held for Palestinian killed in clashes with Israeli forces

(2 Aug 2014) A funeral was held for a 20-year-old Palestinian man in the West Bank town of Rafat on Saturday. Oday Jaber was reportedly killed by Israeli security forces on Friday during a demonstration in Safa, approximately four kilometres (2.5 miles) southwest of Ramallah. He was killed by a shot to the chest, and another to his left hand, according to doctors at a hospital in Ramallah. The Israeli Army said the incident is being investigated. Mourners carried the body - wrapped in traditional Palestinian scarves - and chanted slogans during the funeral procession, while waving Palestinian faction flags. Thousands of Palestinians across the West Bank staged protests against Israel's Gaza operation on Friday. Jaber's death raised the number of those killed in the West Bank since last weekend to 11.
