Four Wheel Drive Layout in Automobile - How Power Transmission Occurs ? Function of Engine & Gearbox

There are Four Types of automobile layouts, today I will discuss four wheel drive type of layout, so name itself tells us that all wheels of vehicle are driven by engine thus making entire vehicle weight available for traction, here in this layout engine, clutch, gearbox, unit which drives beam type both axle through propeller shaft with four universal joints and transfer case, So here in this layout first is Engine, motive power is developed in engine, and this power is transmitted to gearbox input shaft through clutch, function of gearbox is to obtain various fixed torque ratio according to speed requirement and function of clutch is to connect or disconnect engine power which is to be transmitted to gearbox input shaft, so next element is transfer case, transfer case which receives power from transmission and further passes it to both front and rear axles. this can be done with a set of gears. if you want know detail construction of transfer case then watch my video link is here -    • How Transfer case works in Automobile Gear...   next element is propeller shaft, function of propeller shaft is to transmit torque from gearbox shaft to final drive which is given to real axle and with help of universal joint, drive adjust different inclination when vehicle come across shock. Now here differential is used to split torque in equal proportion to rear axle, rear axle is supported on leaf spring. and it also helps to turn vehicle. now we see advantages of four wheel drive, so first one is here traction nearly doubled as compared to two wheel drive layout. next is it give sufficient power. now we see disadvantages, so first one is it is heavier, more expensive, difficult to design and built. #Four_Wheel_Drive_Layout #Types_of_Layout_in_Automobile_Vehicle #Power_transmission This Video Topic is from Automobile Engineering Subject, you can also watch below mentioned videos related to Automobile Engineering Subject: Macpherson Strut, Double Wishbone, Trailing Arm Suspension System -    • Macpherson Strut, Double Wishbone, Trailin...   Master Cylinder and Wheel Cylinder (Hydraulic Brakes in cars) -    • Master Cylinder and Wheel Cylinder Working...   Lead Acid Battery -    • Lead Acid Battery: How Car Battery Works? ...   Hydraulic Power Steering System -    • Hydraulic Power Steering System Working Ex...   Cam and Follower -    • Cam and Follower terminology; All Definiti...   Semi Floating Axle, Three Quarter floating axle, Fully Floating Axle -    • Semi Floating Axle, Three Quarter floating...   Hotchkiss Drive and Torque Tube Drive -    • Hotchkiss Drive and Torque Tube Drive: Con...   Recirculating Ball Type Steering Gearbox Mechanism -    • Recirculating Ball Type Steering Gearbox M...   Rack and Pinion Steering Gearbox Mechanism -    • Rack and Pinion Steering Gearbox Mechanism...   Multi Plate Clutch -    • Multi Plate Clutch Explained: Construction...   Angles in Steering Geometry -    • Angles in Steering Geometry; All Definitio...   Front Engine Rear Wheel Drive Layout in Automobile -    • Front Engine Rear Wheel Drive Layout - How...   Four Wheel Drive Layout in Automobile -    • Four Wheel Drive Layout in Automobile - Ho...   Overdrive -    • Overdrive Working Explained with How Power...   Differential Gearbox -    • Differential Gearbox Explained: Constructi...   Single Plate Clutch -    • Single Plate Clutch Explained: Constructio...   Synchromesh Gearbox -    • Synchromesh Gearbox Explained: Constructio...   Telescopic Shock Absorber -    • Telescopic Shock Absorber Construction and...   How Transfer case work in Automobile -    • How Transfer case works in Automobile Gear...   Faculty - Shubham Kola Email ID - [email protected] From - Maharashtra ( India ) YouTube Channel ( Shubham Kola ) -    / @ifinfotech   Disclaimer - video is for educational purpose only.
