Star Wars AOTR 2.8.1 (Rebels) Ep 22: Finale: Grand Battles of Coruscant and The Maw

(After Action Report by Admiral Ackbar's personal Historian) Well, it's finally here. The invasion of the capital planet itself! After transferring into the Main Fleet after a long and distinguished service in the 2nd Fleet, Captain Shack and the Liberation wouldn't be denied participation into this final battle. The enemy defenses were easily the most formidable of any of the systems we'd attacked so far in the lead up to Coruscant itself. They boasted the last full Imperial Star Destroyer left in the surrounding fleet. Home One engaged it personally and after losing another Mediator did the Liberation jump in. It was a major help in taking down the Imperial Star Destroyer. The rest of the enemy force fell around them and the stations housed many of the Imperial research facilities as well as a Frigate Shipyard. They were all destroyed and the orbit was finally ours. Now it was up to General Skywalker ad this time he finally had that air support led by Rogue Squadron. Unfortunately they were all shot down, but not before destroying the enemy power generators ad taking down a mighty AT-AT. General Skywalker and his force took over from there and cut down any Imperial that came close to their landing zone. After dealing with the enemy assault we advanced through the urban nightmare and eventually found their base near the old Jedi Temple. General Skywalker, as a Jedi himself took a moment from the battle to pause and admire the temple gates. What must have been going through his mind about the history of the Jedi written in this place must've staggering for anyone else to contemplate. Our Troops destroyed the enemy bases and routed up the remaining enemy stragglers. Coruscant is FINALLY in the Alliance's hands! Now the New Republic can officially begin. But before that there is one more piece of business to take care of. A last remaining fleet of the Imperial Remnant was stuck at The Maw and it was our job to source them out. The final fleet of the Empire was the largest yet encountered and boast 8 full Imperial Star Destroyers and a few assorted support ships. When we jumped in and deployed Admiral Ackbar stressed caution and advanced slowly. Two Imperial Star Destroyers were unlucky enough to come within reach of our long range guns and were subsequently racked with fire. One was eventually destroyed while a new Star Destroyer took its place. And when it was destroyed 3 of the remaining 6 scattered themselves while the other 3 attacked including the damaged one from earlier which was then destroyed. The remaining two were bombarded and destroyed one after the other and when the scattered ships returned we were already assaulting the station. Home One personally took care of 2 of the remaining 3. And while we lost an MC80 Liberty for the first time in the entire campaign the Liberation jumped in and joined in the battle, being there for the final nail in the coffin of the Empire. Home One destroyed the 2 Star Destroyers and their Victory Class. The station fell soon afterwards and then the shipyard fell. The Maw was ours and so was the last Imperial resistance to the New Republic. It has been my pleasure to witness and record this glorious campaign. Thank you.
