Today, Melea is here discussing DPIs or dry powder inhalers with us. A DPI is a treatment device your doctor may prescribe to you if you have COPD, or many other respiratory issues. A DPI may help with inflammation of the airways. It may be a little bit confusing to use at first, but you'll get the hang of it quickly as it's very easy. Another good idea to remember after taking your DPI, or dry powder inhaler, is to drink a glass of water and rinse, gargle and spit out some water. This may prevent oral thrush, which is a very common side effect of your medication. We hope this helps you out. Life is 24/7 and so are we! If you are new to the Urgent Care 24/7, we started this video series because we have many patients come into our clinics with really important questions to relatively simple topics.
