A Tribute to I A Rehman on his (1930-2021) 91st Birth Anniversary

This webinar is in remembrance of I A Rehman Sahab’s contribution as a human rights defender and his struggle and efforts to bring and maintain the rule of law, democracy, and peace in South Asia. Irtiqa Institute of Social Sciences would like to invite you as a speaker in a webinar organized on the occasion of I. A. Rehman's birth anniversary is on 1st September. The Irtiqa Institute of Social Sciences, founded in 1991, endeavors to create a cultural space where open dialogue regarding the socio-political and cultural problems of Pakistan can be discussed in a knowledgeable and amicable manner. To this end of promoting a culture of free inquiry, over the course of 30 years, we have held innumerable seminars, symposiums, workshops, conferences, and short courses. I. A. Rehman was a torchbearer of human rights and peace in Pakistan. Rehman sahib was not just a man but was an institution in himself. He was one of the leading members of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan for almost three decades. He started his career as a journalist and remained so throughout his life. His regular columns in newspapers were the voice of the marginalized and the dispossessed. In troubled political times, he was the voice for a more egalitarian and democratic society. This webinar celebrates the contributions of I. A. Rehman. It will not only revisit his illustrious career as a journalist and human rights activist but will also celebrate the man himself.
