The Virar bound fast track that passes through Andheri station for many years had a speed restriction of 50 km/hr because of the curves and crossings before and after the station. However the railways were working on it and now they have finally cleared it for a MPS (Maximum Permissible Speed) of 100 km/hr. Today morning, I got to capture a first hand experience of the upgraded track, with the 22953 Mumbai - Ahmedabad Gujarat Express. It had a Vadodara (BRC) WAP-7 locomotive hauling it. The train approached at around 90 km/hr and then accelerated to top speed by the time it passed me. It blew up loads of dust from the platform whose surface has construction work going on. You can see the dust blowing in front of me, literally reducing the visibility and making it difficult to breathe A bonus for me was a crossing on the other track which was the 12962 Indore - Mumbai Avantika Express with a Vadodara (BRC) WAP-4E locomotive. Enjoy the honking by both trains and the speedy crossing. Date of video: 28th March, 2018
