ATC hands over Uzair Baloch to Rangers for 90 days remand

Baloch, who was arrested on outskirts of Karachi earlier in the day, was produced before ATC judge Farooq Shah amid heightened security. Rangers pleaded 90-day physical remand of the accused, a request which was granted by the court. The court also allowed the formation of a joint instigation team (JIT) to grill Uzair Baloch. With head-money of Rs.5 million, the main character of Lyari gang war is facing over 55 cases of murders, kidnappings, extortion and terrorism. Following the arrest, sources said, police and Rangers have been put on high alert, with enhanced patrolling in Lyari in the wake of any possible reaction. After fleeing from Pakistan, Baloch was arrested on December 28, 2014 by Interpol at Dubai airport where he arrived from Muscat carrying a counterfeit Iranian passport.
