Van Life After 60: Exploring Small Towns in Montana and Wyoming Between Snowstorms

Westward Series - Episode 16 April 2026 🚐 After driving through one snowstorm already, we woke up in Livingston, Montana to find the interstate had been closed overnight due to multiple semi accidents. And with another round of weather moving through the region, we knew we’d need to stay flexible. In this episode of VanLife After 60, we continue our journey east along I-90 through Montana and Wyoming, trying to stay ahead of another storm system while taking time to explore some of the small towns along the way. 👉Our first stop was Big Timber, Montana, where an unexpected delay gave us time to slow down, walk downtown, and enjoy wood-fired pizza from a local bakery. From there, we headed to Billings, where we had planned a quiet Easter weekend to wait out the weather. Fortunately, the forecast changed, but our stay turned out a little differently than we expected. 🏔️ As we continued into Wyoming, we were greeted by stunning views of the snow-covered Bighorn Mountains before spending the night in Sheridan and exploring its historic downtown, murals, train depot, and western architecture. Sometimes the best travel days aren’t about covering miles. They’re about slowing down long enough to notice the places where you stop. 👋 We’re JK and Kim.
