The 427 engine for the 69 Corvette had a knock in it when I bought it, so I knew that a rebuild was likely. After Carl and I performed some tests, we determined that it was not anything that could be cured without a rebuild. I did some research for a machine shop in the area and settled on http://bakersautomachine.com/ after speaking to Andy Baker and explaining what I wanted done. They have a good reputation around Tucson. I was looking to move to a roller top end to take advantage of newer technology that would provide more reliability and less wear on the top end internal parts. Also, I would not have to worry about the issues with the lack of zinc in today's oil and flat tappet engines. Some say the lack of zinc issue is a myth, but either way, i will not have to be concerned with it. The block is .030 over and the crank is .010/.010. The rockers are stainless steel. This is a matching numbers power train.
