Seven different game boards await you, including both new and classic ones. These are: Goomba Lagoon, Mega Wiggler's Tasty Forest, Master Dice Racetrack, Rainbow Shop Palace, Bowser's Dark Lair, Western Land, and Mario's Rainbow Castle. These game boards are located on an idyllic group of islands, which you can reach by hot air balloon, and each board promises unique features and challenges. The focus is on over 110 minigames – more than ever before. You can test your skills in classic or motion-controlled modes like flicking, rolling, and serving. In the Minigame Haven, you can choose your favorites or compete in 2v2 team matches and daily tasks. You can also compete against players from around the world online. Up to four players can participate locally or online at the same time. For lighter fun, there are the "Party Rules," which are based on luck. If you want to take things more seriously, you can switch to the "Pro Rules," where skill counts. You can also adjust various parameters, such as the difficulty of the AI opponents, the number of starting stars, and the inclusion of motion-controlled mini-games. A variety of characters from the Mushroom Kingdom are ready to join the party—more than in any previous Mario Party game. Characters include classics like Mario, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong, as well as new faces like Pauline and Ninji. Special characters that you can recruit as Jamboree partners sometimes appear on the game boards. The first player to reach a character starts a challenge mini-game. The winner receives the partner, which offers advantages such as copying items, increasing dice luck, or buying two stars at once. Those who enjoy motion control can look forward to three exclusive modes: Rhythm Kitchen, Toad Factory, and Parakoopa Flight School. New is the Bowserathlon, an online competition with up to twenty players. You compete against players around the world in a series of mini-games to achieve the highest score. The better you perform, the higher you climb in the rankings. The player with the most points at the end is crowned the ultimate champion. In Bowser Bomber Squad mode, up to eight players team up to face off against the evil False Bowser. You search for bombs to defeat him and can earn useful items in mini-games. Here you can relax, help Kamek decorate, and exchange your Party Points for new emotes to customize your character, buy music, and much more.
