To save Africa’s pangolins, the most trafficked mammal on Earth, safe, well-managed protected areas are vital. In Zimbabwe’s Matusadona National Park, a partnership between African Parks, the Tikki Hywood Foundation, and ZimParks is making a real difference. By combining African Parks’ protected area management expertise with the Tikki Hywood Foundation’s specialised pangolin knowledge, the team is rescuing, rehabilitating, and successfully releasing pangolins back into their natural habitat. With the Matusadona Pangolin Monitoring Programme, local skills development is also being strengthened, community awareness enhanced, and critical data contributed to broader pangolin research on the continent. Watch how this partnership, made possible only by the dedication and passion of each team member, is ensuring that these vulnerable animals are given a second chance at survival.
