Live, recorded play-by-play and color commentary of Game 7 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs' Eastern Conference Semifinals series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers with John Ott and Ian Genge. Once again, it's a Game 7, where the Toronto Maple Leafs look to break a six-game losing streak in such games, and have not won a Game 7 since they defeated the Ottawa Senators in the 2004 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. They are 12-15 in such games. The Florida Panthers, meanwhile, are 3-1, and head coach Paul Maurice is a perfect 5-0 in Game 7s in his career, four of those wins coming on the road. Brad Marchand is 4-0 in Game 7s against Toronto, though all four of those wins came when he was with the Boston Bruins, and those games were at TD Garden. For the Leafs, the relieving news is that Matt Knies will play after he was banged up from a hit he took from Niko Mikkola during their Game 6 win. He's tied for second on the Leafs in goals, one behind William Nylander, and his net-front presence will be huge in solving Sergei Bobrovsky. One of the big keys is to continue the block party that worked in Game 6, where they blocked 31 shots, to add to the importance of the transition game, shot quality, goaltending, and clutch scoring from star players and timely depth when it matters. The Panthers, meanwhile, entered their last Game 7 in danger of becoming the 5th team in NHL history to be reverse swept, and their win over the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final speaks to their mental and physical toughness that they didn't blow it. They're no strangers to playing such games and embrace being on the spotlight in the big moments. However, they must bounce back from an awful Game 6, where they sputtered as they didn't rely on sending bodies in front of Joseph Woll. The Cats led in shot attempts, 81-42, but only recorded 22 shots on goal, with 31 of them blocked and the other 28 missing the net. They looked slow at sending pucks to to the net, hesitating way too many times. They're most effective when they're decisive in the zone, and they'll look to get that in Game 7.
