Why 80's comics are so good: Fall of the Mutants

The 1980s were a high point for comic books. Sales of top titles were regularly between 300k-500k, high quality artists and writers brought in new fans and the stories seemed to matter to the characters. Fall of the Mutants in 1988 was a real stepping off point for Marvel's three main mutant books, Uncanny X-men, New Mutants and X-Factor. These stories radically altered the course of these books for years to come and you can still see some of their effects now. The reasons books from the 80s were better are simple: Better quality dynamic art, writing where character motivation is easy to define and you can tell one character from another just by the dialogue and color that thematically helps the reader understand the story. #Xmen #80sComics #Comics
