Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (Motor Kombat) - Raiden in Stage 1 "Lin Kuei Raceway" and Stage 2 "Outworld Refinery". Raiden is the immortal God of Thunder, protector of Earthrealm , and arguably one of the strongest characters in Mortal Kombat . After Shinnok's second defeat, he ascended to Old God status. As a result of his divine nature, he possesses many supernatural abilities, such as the ability to teleport, control lightning, and fly. He is also more likely to think in terms of eternity than a normal human life span , and has a very different outlook on life. Throughout the series, Raiden has been a mentor and father figure to Earthrealm's champions, especially Liu Kang and Kung Lao . As the protector of Earthrealm, he harbors a deep hatred for Shang Tsung , Shao Kahn , Shinnok , and anyone else who threatens Earth. Raiden now assumes a damaged form similar to his Original Timeline counterpart . His views on Earthrealm's protection changed drastically, where he attacked anyone he deemed a threat to Earthrealm, even leading a full invasion of the Netherrealm to destroy Shinnok's Bone Temple and cripple Liu Kang's Revenant and Kitana's army, showing little to no mercy for the former his allies, not even caring about the death of Sonya Blade , who sacrificed herself during the invasion. When Kronika erased this incarnation of Raiden from the timeline as a result of his defeat of Shinnok and the merging of his timelines, his past incarnation was left aware of the damage and stopped Kronika's plans to restart the timeline, vowing to never walk in his future self's path. In the new third timeline depicted, he and Liu Kang have swapped roles with Liu Kang now rewriting history as the God of Fire and Liu Kang now as the champion of Earthrealm whom Liu Kang must train to fight the new threat. This version of Raiden grew up as a field worker in Fengjian village with Kung Lao. He also has a sister in this timeline. Raiden (Japanese: 雷電; Chinese: 雷电) is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. As the immortal God of Thunder, Raiden has become one of the most memorable characters in the fighting game genre as well as the earliest playable God in the genre. He remains the main and central character throughout his appearances, often serving as the deuteragonist of the franchise behind Liu Kang.
