Utah Elk Hunt - Wasatch Muzzle Loader 2015

2015 Utah LE Muzzle loader Elk hunt - I was so SURPRISED to come upon this Bull on the 4th evening of my 2015 Utah LE muzzle loader elk hunt. My good friend Larry was with me from day one and we were seeing bulls each day but chose to pass up those bulls until this evening....(Sept 24th) It was about 7:15pm and we had just finished the evening hunting...SO WE THOUGHT!!! We were on our way back to our ATV's when this bull bugled just ahead of us in the clearing that the trail we were on went right into. We carefully made our way to the edge of this meadow and WOW! was I surprised! This bull and about 6 cows were grazing right out in the middle/open. Larry pulled out his camera and started filming while I got ready and started a slow crawl into position behind a small pine tree. Just after the 5 minute mark (5:17) of filming you can hear Larry whisper "There you go" as the bull offers a perfect broadside shot. But Larry cant see me and doesn't realize I'm not in position. So as you can imagine he is wondering if I am ever going to shoot!?!? So meanwhile after some SLOW crawling, range finding and the bull coming even closer after moving away...THE SHOT IS MADE! Larry quickly starts cow calling hoping to stop the ADRENALINE FUELED bull from running. His third cow call sounds like he swallows it- LOL :) The bull is hit just below the spine passing thru both lungs and expiring not much further after running into the trees just off the clearing. Turn up the volume to hear this bull make a couple of bugles and chuckles during filming. HOPE you enjoy! I SURELY DID!!!!!!!! :) (Larry said that the camera began to feel like it weighed 50 pounds) - hence the unsteadiness at times during filming :) THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO LARRY!!!
