It was created to explore new AI filmmaking tools and to imagine what Varang’s past might have been years before the events of Avatar Fire & Ash. This short film explores the day that changed everything for Varang. The day the fire came. The day she lost her land, her people, her friend… and her faith in Eywa. This is my personal interpretation of the moment that shaped her identity and set her on the path in Avatar 3 Fire & Ash. In life, sometimes a single moment of trauma can completely transform who we become and how we see the world. This was Varang’s moment. This was the day she became Varang. Avatar has always been one of my favorite film universes, and I’ve always dreamed of creating something within Pandora. AI made it possible to explore that vision and experiment with what the future of storytelling might look like. How it was created: The story was written first, focused on Varang’s turning point. Then I storyboarded the full sequence to shape the pacing and emotional arc. The visuals were generated shot by shot using AI, animated and edited together, followed by full sound design to bring Pandora to life. The music is by the the great James Horner and Simon Franglen.
