Wood Block, Pencil Mark (video documentation)
A video documentation of Ezra Birt's sculpture, "Wood Block, Pencil Mark" which consists of a single, finely sliced, piece of wood (sassafras), set atop a solitary piece of ordinary notebook paper marked with a fine, trailing line in pencil. The piece activates a contrastingly large space as the viewer's interaction activates and deactivates a hidden internal form delineated sensitive to the wood's figure and revealing an unexpected transparent quality.
