Federal Workers Turn to Food Banks as Government Shutdown Reaches Day 31 | EWTN News Nightly

As the government shutdown stretches into its 31st day, more than a million federal employees remain without pay. Many furloughed workers are now visiting local food banks to feed their families. At the United Community Food Bank in Alexandria, Virginia — working in partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank — volunteers are distributing food to furloughed workers. Meanwhile, concerns are rising as more than 40 million Americans stand to lose food subsidies through SNAP starting November 1, when funding runs out. To help address the growing need, Catholic Charities has launched a national fundraising campaign. Donations can be made at ccusa.online/shutdown.
