Hollow Knight: Crystal Jump Skip in Crystal Peak

I was playing hollow Knight while one of my friends was watching, and they were guiding me through the place since I didn't have Monarch Wings. I was trying to get out of the Crystal Peak so I could go back to Dirtmouth, but I decided to go up. I struggled to get up there, so I slashed a nearby crystal so that I can bounce myself upwards into the area. when my friend noticed that I was in the other area, he seemed baffled. he was surprised I was able to do that and called it a "speedrunner technique". I hope any speedrunners watching this can learn a thing or two I guess.
