LES HOMMES Menswear Spring Summer 2017 Milan by Fashion Channel
A journey to South America at the time of the Conquistadors. This season Les Hommes takes us far away in time and space. The world created by Tom Notte and Bart Vandebosch for the Spring-Summer 2017 represents a tour leading us back to modern times, recalling stories of the Spanish Conquest of the Americas. The collection presents oversize and loose fitting silhouettes featuring enlarged sizes created by a clever layering designed by the Belgian duo. Shirts are often double knitted with different length nets, while shorts are worn over contrasting mid-calf sandals. Military wear is present throughout the collection, reliving through an urban and functional reinterpretation. Jackets and bags, with shoulder strap or sling bags imitate bulletproof protection. Bomber jackets and sweatshirts display metallic embroideries that combine the strictness of the decorations of the Conquistadors with nature-inspired body paint of Central America populations. Suspenders and laces are directly applied on jackets as embellishments. Trousers shortened and enriched by large pockets and biker trousers are adapted to suit subtropical forests, are juxtaposed to real cargo pants. High-tech, bright fabrics, featuring cotton paired with nylon, alternate with tailoring fabrics and jacquard jackets with trompe l’oeil decorations. The color palette is military-inspired, strict. Mimetic green, white and black. Contrasting buttons, golden or silver zippers reference to both Mayan decorations as well as military details. Models wear small piercings on their noses, lips or ears. Tribal echo is here redesigned and updated by minimal and geometric cuts. High and low sandals punctuated by metallic studs to complete the look.
