Ukrainian Cossacks were a freedom loving and democratic group The Cossack community was a union of people of different social classes and origins. Power and authority belonged not to the richest or famous by ancestry, but to the strongest, fastest, and most enduring men. At the same time, all Cossacks had to follow collective rules and be a team player, otherwise there would be no chance to survive or accomplish anything due to permanent threat.
