About 700,000 Rohingya have fled western Myanmar to neighbouring Bangladesh in the past seven months to escape a brutal counterinsurgency campaign by Myanmar's army. With people crowded into 20 makeshift camps along the border, providing basic needs like food, clean water and proper sanitation has been a challenge. Yet things are set to get much worse. Monsoon season will begin in a couple of months and the Cox's Bazar district, where many of the camps are located, is one of the world's wettest places. Bob Rae, Canada's special envoy to Myanmar, released his final report on the crisis today urging Canada to take ramp up humanitarian efforts.
