At last, we're speaking with Helen Köpman, whose official title is way too long to even try to utter (as we've managed to gather over the course of the conversation, she is a high ranking member of a special task force put together by the EC to research blockchain). Mostly we try to cover the ever-raging battle between innovators and regulators. Since everyone who follows our work has been through some sort of a government rein-in at some point of their career, we thought this could be a good one. After all, Helen is a e cover the to Was your group created at the behest of the European Commission or did you or somebody close to you had noticed this tech, pointed it out to EC, and only then you were instructed to check it out? In 2019, after everything we know, are we still changing the world with the blockchain tech or we are finally concede that it’s just a tech, albeit an exciting one? 2017 went down in history as the year of the Big Clash between regulators and the cryptocommunity. Lessons should have been learned on both sides. Were they? Are we any closer to solving the issue of digital ownership today than, say, three years ago? It seems that another problem with the space right now is the balance between regulation and innovation. In your opinion, is such balance attainable at all? In a global economy, what would be the role of a single government? I mean, we’re aware of the Goldman Sachs or Deutsche bank’s input. So, how could a government of, say, Greece or Spain play on equal terms with them?
