HELLEBORO, the CHRISTMAS ROSE: How to Care for It || Verdi e Contenti

Martina Cioccio, Green designer, talks to us about the hellebore, or Christmas rose. Hellebores, part of the Ranunculaceae family, amaze us with their blooms at a time when nature seemingly stands still. Among the many varieties of hellebores, the best-known is Helleborus Niger, certainly not for its pure white flower with golden stamens, but rather for the black color of its rhizome, used in ancient times to cure madness. It usually blooms from December to March. As I already told you in its legend, hellebore was already lethal in ancient times, and modern science has demonstrated the strong narcotic properties contained in the plant's helleborine. All parts of the hellebore, including the roots, are toxic and irritating to both humans and animals. The beauty of its cut flowers can also decorate our homes, adding a touch of color for a week in perfect Nordic style. https://www.verdiecontenti.it/
